Welcome back to the PCHATP podcast. In our last episode, we talked about Building Equitable Communities with Serenity Wright and how to foster greatness and humanize your work. This time, we’ll be exploring emotions and aspects of life that can destroy our greatness, dehumanize others as well as ourselves, and paths we can choose to make a difference. Along this journalistic journey, we have the honor of welcoming back a distinguished guest, Dr. W. David Hager. Dr. Hager is not only an accomplished physician but also a prolific author and advocate for change. With over 40 medical journal publications, 25 textbook chapters, and seven books to his name, appearances on CNN, WSNBC, National Public Radio, ABC Morning Show, CNN News, 20/20, Nightline with Ted Koppel, and 60 Minutes with Leslie Stahl, Dr. Hager's expertise is widely recognized. Today, we explore a deeply personal aspect of Dr. Hager's life…his grandchild's close call during at mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee that happened. This traumatic event has tested Dr. Hager's resilience, and we will discuss his journey of facing rage, anger, and healing in its aftermath. As a returning guest, Dr. Hager brings his wealth of knowledge, empathy, and personal insight to help us understand the complex emotions that arise in the wake of such horrific incidents. We hope that this episode will provide wisdom, solace, and guidance to those grappling with their own anger and/or trauma.
